Ways To Work Together
Therapy can take different shapes depending on you, what we're working on, and where we are in the process. I offer traditional sessions, extended sessions, and therapy intensives—with the flexibility to find the structure that best supports the work.
Traditional Sessions
60 minutes
A familiar, consistent format for ongoing therapy. We may meet weekly or every other week depending on your needs and the work we're doing.
Extended Sessions
90 minutes–3 hours
My primary way of working. The additional time gives us more flexibility within a session—particularly when we're doing experiential or processing work that benefits from having room to unfold.
Extended sessions are typically held weekly or every other week, depending on your needs and where we are in the process.
Therapy Intensives
Focused, concentrated therapy
A dedicated block of time for focused therapeutic work. An intensive can be part of our ongoing work together, a standalone experience focused on something specific, or a complement to therapy you're already doing with another clinician.
Why More Time Can Matter
Some therapeutic work fits comfortably within an hour. Other work benefits from having more room.
Experiential and trauma-processing therapies often involve time to settle in, connect with what is happening beneath the surface, engage in meaningful processing, and then integrate what has emerged.
With an extended session, we have more freedom to follow the work rather than the clock. There is less pressure to stop just as something important is unfolding—and more space to move at a pace that feels right for your nervous system.
In my experience, this can sometimes make therapy more efficient, not simply longer. When less of each session is spent getting started, finding our way into the work, and preparing to stop, more of our time can be devoted to the work itself.
That means an extended session every other week may, for some people, be as effective—or more effective—than shorter weekly sessions, while requiring a similar or even smaller overall investment of time and money.
The goal isn't to make therapy longer. It's to create enough space for meaningful work to happen.
Variation is the norm
Session length and frequency aren't set in stone—we can adjust the rhythm over time as you and the work evolve.

Insurance
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Because extended sessions go beyond the standard therapy hour, insurance reimbursement may only apply to a portion of the session. I recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits.

If you'd like to explore your out-of-network benefits, these questions can help you understand what your plan may reimburse:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services?
What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?
After I meet my deductible, what percentage or amount will I be reimbursed?
What is the allowed amount or reimbursement rate for CPT codes 90791, 90834, and 90837?
How does my plan handle therapy sessions that extend beyond the standard therapy hour? Is reimbursement limited to one therapy code per day?
Is there a limit on the number of mental health sessions covered each year?
Do I need prior authorization or a referral for out-of-network mental health services?
What do I need to submit for reimbursement? Is a superbill sufficient, or is additional documentation required?xt goes here
Scheduling
While St. John's College is in session, my private-practice availability is primarily on Fridays, with additional availability during academic breaks. Other days and times may occasionally be available.
Note: not all availability appears in my online scheduler. If you don't see a time that works, reach out directly.
In-Person Therapy
Sessions are primarily offered in person at my office in West Annapolis, which is how I do most of my work. The office offers a comfortable, private setting with free parking and elevator access—and Buddy is part of the experience, too.
Virtual sessions may also be available when needed or when they make sense for the work.
Not Sure What Fits?
You don't need to know exactly what kind of session or format you're looking for before reaching out.
A free consultation gives us a chance to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you're looking for, and what way of working might make the most sense.
